uni-assist
For all bachelor’s programmes and for some master’s programmes, international applicants from outside the EU who have obtained their degree abroad must undergo a fee-based special procedure and request the issuance of the document "preliminary review documentation (Vorprüfungsdokumentation (VPD))" via uni-assist.
Be sure to check whether you need a preliminary review documentation (VPD) before applying to the University of Bayreuth (UBT).
If the document is required for your application, you need to request the preliminary review documentation (VPD) via uni-assist as well as apply to the Univeristy of Bayreuth directly via CAMPUSonline.
Requesting a VPD via uni-assist alone does not qualify as an application for a degree programme at the University of Bayreuth. An application via CAMPUSonline within the respective programme's application period is always necessary.

- How can I select my desired degree programme via uni-assist?Hide
-

Choose the semester, the desired qualification (Bachelor or Master) and the university (Universität Bayreuth or just enter Bayreuth). The system will then display all degree programs. Please select your desired degree programme.
If the portal for the desired semester has not yet been opened at uni-assist, simply select the current semester. It does not matter whether you request a VPD for the summer semester or the winter semester at uni-assist. - How much does the VPD cost?Hide
-
For the evaluation of your certificates, uni-assist charges handling fees. You must pay these to uni-assist in due time. Here you can find more information on the current fee.
Please note that your application cannot be processed without this transfer. More information about the bank transfer.
- Can I also apply with a uni-assist test report?Hide
-
That depends. If you have submitted a complete application for the University of Bayreuth via uni-assist, the test report can also be accepted with your application, provided it was not issued longer than 2 years ago.
However, if uni-assist has not received an application for the University of Bayreuth (but rather for a different university) or it was made over two years ago, the test report cannot be accepted. - How do I get my final VPD from uni-assist?Hide
-
Uni-assist usually needs about 6 to 8 weeks to process your application. Please plan a few extra days, as additional inquiries may delay the process.
After uni-assist has finished processing your application, the final preliminary documentation documentation will be sent to you via email as a PDF.
Your VPD will be accepted at UBT for 2 years after issuance as long as there have been no changes to your higher education entrance qualification (in the case of an application for Bachelor's degree programs) or your Master's entrance qualification (in the case of an application for Master's degree programs), or the admission requirements.
UBT does not accept a VPD that has been requested for for another university.
- What am I supposed to do if I have requested my VPD but have not yet received it?Hide
-
If you do not have a final VPD yet, but are waiting for uni-assist to process it, then you need to
provide confirmation to us that you have applied for a VPD for the UBT at uni-assist in due time and
with all required documents. Otherwise, we will not be able to process your application.Instead of the final preliminary documentation (VPD), please upload the signed "Confirmation that the application for a preliminary review documentation (VPD) has been submitted in due form and time" form to CAMPUSonline. This form confirms that you have applied for the VPD at uni- assist in due time or that you want to change your programme. It serves as a placeholder until you can upload the final VPD. It is mandatory to upload it until you can replace it by uploading the final VPD or until we confirm that you are a degree student requesting to change their programme.Once you have uploaded all documents required for admission, including the VPD, in your online
application to CAMPUSonline within the deadline, your documents will be reviewed.
If you have not yet uploaded a valid VPD, the form used as a placeholder will be assigned the status
"not OK" so that you may replace it with the final VPD.
The status "not OK" simply means that you still have to replace the document with the final VPD as
soon as you have it.
For this purpose, you will have a grace period of 4 weeks after the application deadline if you
applied for a programme with unrestricted admission. However, this grace period will only be
granted if you have applied for a VPD in due time and have submitted all the required documents.
We reserve the right to set a shorter grace period for programmes with restricted admission such as
DOSV or an aptitude assessment procedure.Uni-assist usually needs about 4 to 6 weeks to process your application. The current processing times are available here. Please allow a few additional days, as inquiries could further delay the process. Once uni-assist has successfully reviewed your documents, the final preliminary documentation will be sent to you as a PDF file via email.
- In your CAMPUSonline application, you can now upload the preliminary review documentation (VPD). Make sure to meet the deadline of the grace period! (see guide). The grace period is only granted if all other application documents except the VPD have been uploaded correctly and in complete form.
- If uni-assist issues you an "Ersatzbescheinigung for the application at the University of Bayreuth” instead of a VPD, please submit that letter instead of the VPD.
- As soon as you have uploaded your VPD, your application will be further processed. Without the final VPD being uploaded, it will not be possible to go through any aptitude assessment processes.
- Can I apply for several programmes with one single VPD?Hide
-
You can apply for all our programmes with one single VPD, as long as it is not older than two years and as long as it has been issued for an application to the University of Bayreuth.
- What happens to my application if I don't submit my VPD on time?Hide
-
If you did not submit neither your VPD nor the "Confirmation that the application for a preliminary review documentation (VPD) has been submitted in due form and time" form to us by the specified deadline in accordance with the instructions in CAMPUSonline, your application will be deemed to not have been complete on time and you will then receive a letter of denial. Please request your VPD via uni-assist as early as possible, as the processing time of uni-assist can be 6-8 weeks.
Unfortunately, if you missed the application deadline, you would need to reapply for the next semester using the VPD you received. Since the VPD remains valid for 2 years, requesting a new VPD at uni-assist is not necessary. - Do I need a VPD if I am already studying in Germany?Hide
-
If you have acquired your higher education entrance qualification in a non-EU country, you must request a VPD via uni-assist. Since the admission criteria may vary from university to university, it is imperative that the higher education entrance qualification of each applicant be checked, regardless of whether he or she has already been enrolled at a German university. For most degree programmes, this review is carried out for us by uni-assist.
Please note:
The request for preliminary review documentation (VPD) via the online portal at uni-assist is NOT an application to the University of Bayreuth. In addition, an application in due form and time via the application portal CAMPUSonline at the University of Bayreuth is always necessary.
Your application to the UBT is only considered to have been received in due form and time if you have also applied via our portal CAMPUSonline and have submitted all required documents there, including your VPD within the given deadline. Detailed information on the full application process is available on the relevant degree programme pages.
