Where can I find information on the application process?
If you click on the name of the degree programme you would like to study, you will find information on the application deadline and the application process applicable to your applicant group under "How do I apply?”.
You can find an overview in the table below, but first some explanations to the content of the table:
Application non-EU:
Please select this link if you are neither a citizen of above mentioned countries nor hold a German university entrance qualification (please do not confuse "German university entrance qualification" with "university entrance qualification from abroad which grants admission in Germany").
Application DE / EU:
Please select EU if you are a citizen of the EU, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Sweden, Iceland or if you are a German citizen with a non-German university entrance qualification (this includes the IB Diploma).
Please select the link DE if you have a German university entrance qualification (eg. Abitur, Fachabitur, German Bachelor's degree, Internationale Deutsche Abiturprüfung...) irrespective of your citizenship.
Admission type:
Unrestricted admission: Apart from fulfilling the general admission requirements (university entrance qualification, language requirements etc), there are no further requirements.
Aptitude assessment: In addition to fulfilling the general admission requirements, you will also have to pass an aptitude assessment. The exact requirements depend on the respective programme. You can find further information after clicking the link on the programme name.
Restricted admission: These programmes only have a restricted number of seats. The seats will be allocated based on various criteria. In addition to your application at the University of Bayreuth, you are required to register online at Hochschulstart. You can find more details following the respective links.
Part-time option:
No: A part-time option (PT for short or TZ in German) is not offered for this programme.
Yes: A part-time option (PT for short or TZ in German) is offered for this programme. This means the regular study time of the degree programme is doubled and the workload per semester is halved.
